Sustainable Research Excellence

$510 Million in Funding up for Grabs

From 2009 to 2013 the Australian government released over $510 million of additional funding to Universities to address the gap in funding for the indirect costs of research.

The initiative called “Sustainable Research Excellence” (SRE) would release this funding to Universities if it met eligibility criteria.

One of these criteria was the surveying of academic staff for two periods of the year to collect information on research-related activities.

To qualify, the survey needed to meet confidentiality guidelines set out by DIISR and have a completion rate of 75% of all staff.

SRE Survey Solutions

Working to tight initial deadlines, Navigo created new functionality for a number of Alesco clients.

The solution utilises web self service, and allows Universities to capture the information and monitor the results.

To ensure the tough guidelines are met, special emphasis is in each case put on simplicity, accessibility and user experience, coupled with security.

Navigo has completed SRE solutions for a number of Australian Universities – all of which have successfully completed their survey periods to date.

Return on Investment

With the large pool of funding available for Universities who successfully complete the SRE surveys, Navigo’s Alesco WSS solution gets the job done right, with a short path to return on investment. The solution then remains in place and can be used for future SRE requirements.

Navigo’s experience with SRE, Alesco and WSS allows us to create similar functionality for future sites sites in a highly cost effective way.
