Welcome to the (late) April 2014 edition of our monthly news.   As usual, there is plenty going on in HR Technology.

Cloud News

Infor announced plans to build its CloudSuite on Amazon Web Services in a move that will strengthen their offerings to customers. Infor is not well known in Australia and has a range of HR technology solutions including acquisitions such as Workbrain and Lawson.

Oracle launched their “Customer 2 Cloud” program designed to help organisations move existing on-premise solutions to the cloud. This is done by offering flexible financial models, rapid startup services and packaged cloud integrations. The program is open to all existing customers running Oracle’s Siebel, E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft and JD Edwards Enterprise One.

Acquisitions

In late March SAP announced they had acquired cloud based contingent workforce management vendor Fieldglass. The purchase now allows SAP to build a out their platform to manage all types of workers – permanent and temporary. With the continued growth in the use of contingency workers this is likely not the last acquisition of this type we will see.

Customer Wins

Local remuneration vendor Remesys announced new customer wins for 2014 with Aristocrat, Cristal, iiNet and StarTrack all signing up to use their salary and incentive review system.

Internationally Workday picked up European airline easyJet as a customer, they will deploy the Workday HCM product to their 8,000 employees.

Product Launches

LearningSeat has announced two new additions to their compliance training; Compliance Essentials Australia and Compliance Essentials New Zealand. The Compliance Essentials joins LearningSeats other content offering, the S.A.F.E files, designed to help organisation stay complaint. Both content packages have been created in partnership with legal firm Lander & Rogers.

Cloud based payroll vendor KeyPay released an updated integration with QuickBooks Online. They now offer the integration of payroll data, payslips, time sheets and leave between KeyPay and QuickBooks Online.

Talent Management vendor Saba kicked off April with their annual customer conference the event included several key messages about their Saba Cloud platform, primarily the Spring 2014 release. The Saba Cloud Spring 2014 release contained many new features in the new Recruit@Work product. Some of the features are  – The Percent Fit score, SmartHire Assistant, Intelligent Salary Recommendations and Internal Candidate Suggestions. On top of this they also launched The Saba MarketPlace designed to simplify the connection of Saba Cloud to other applications.

Workforce Management

During April ADP announced their ezLaborManager had been approved by MYOB to become an official Add-On Solution. The Add-On allows MYOB customers to integrate the ADP exLaborManager time data back into their MYOB system for payment.

Deputy released an updated version of their iPad Kiosk application. The new app has been re-built for iOS7 and incorporates several new features including – offline support and face detection for tracking punches.

Finally Workforce Software informed the market that New York based Insight Vendor Partners had taken a majority equity position in the company. As part of the announcement there were no plans to modify the current executive team, however Ryan Hinkle, Managing Director at Insight Venture Partners and Ross Devor, Vice President, will join the Board of Directors.

HR Technology Conferences

2014 is shaping up for a busy year on the conference front.

The Australasia Talent Conference (ATC) is on May 20 – 21 and new for 2014 will introduce an Innovation Lab looking to showcase emerging and game-changing HR & recruitment technology. This year’s ATC is all about New Wave Thinking adding the Innovation Lab is a great idea.

August has the AHRI HR Technology Conference and will be held on August 19 the day before the AHRI National Convention, running from August 20 – 21.

Finally in November we have a brand new event, HR Tech Fest. In Sydney across two days (November 17 – 18) the HR Tech Fest looks to be a new style of conference purely focused on HR Technology featuring over 40 sessions, roundtables, and panel discussions. The HR Tech Fest is being put on by the Eventful Group, who also run the very successful Mastering SAP events. Navigo Research is the official research partner.
