Welcome to the June 2014 edition of our monthly news. As always lots going on and this month we are seeing activity around the talent management space.
Saba plan to provide an update on 4th quarter and fiscal year 2014 on July 14, 2014, at the same time they will discuss the status of its financial restatement. I would expect the market will be looking for positive news on both fronts.
Specialised analytics vendor Visier has received $25 million in new funding to help them expand into new verticals and consolidate its position in the human resources category. This is an interesting move as Visier are currently focused on purely HR analytics and the branching out into other business domains while good for revenue might de-focus them from their existing core market of HR.
Industry heavy weight Oracle missed their quarterly targets by 4% on profits of US$3.6 billion, or 80 cents per share, however their revenue rose by 3% year of year. While SaaS and PaaS are the organisations focus they still only account for 3% of revenue, meaning the organisation is still very reliant on traditional software licenses.
Pivot Software is one of the few specialised remuneration vendors in Australia. This month is was revealed that their SaaS-based solution now managing the remuneration processes for 100,000 employees across 50 organisations, primarily in the energy, resources, financial services and professional services industries.
Also in the SaaS world Pageup People announced this month that they have achieved ISO 27001 certification for information security management. The updated ISO 27001 certification replaces ISO/IEC 27001:2005, that was jointedly published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
In the middle of the month Gartner release the 2014 Magic Quadrant for Talent Management Suites. As such we are seeing press releases from many of the vendors who have been recognised in the report.
One interesting fact is SAP ERP, Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle PeopleSoft have all been removed from the report as both SAP and Oracle focus on their core talent management offerings, SuccessFactors and Oracle HCM Cloud respectively.
Within the actual quadrant Cornerstone OnDemand has moved closer to SuccessFactors and if the move continues we might see them surpass SuccessFactors in the next couple of years. Local vendor PageUp People slipped closer to the Niche Players quadrant year over year.

Navigo’s employee onboarding product, HROnboard, has been recognised in the Victorian iAwards receiving a merit award in the tools category. HROnboard will now go on to be a finalist in the national awards in August.
Former Seek CIO Carey Eaton passed away during the month after being shot following an armed robbery at a friend’s residence in Nairobi.
Carey was CIO of Seek for approximately 3 years before he returned to his homeland in 2011, Kenya, to start a new car portal business, Cheki, under the One Africa Media online marketplace group, which he co-founded. According to One Africa Media:
